These points are intended to help you understand some important issues about the therapy.
1. Almost everything we discuss can be kept confidentially between us, save for these exceptions: issues of acute risk to self or others, and safeguarding concerns relating to vulnerable others such as children (I am duty bound to manage these matters by seeking help from other professional services).
2. I am duty bound to retain written information about our time together for a period of 6 years. Up to this point it is kept unde securely under lock and key, or password and encryption. After this time it is securely and fully destroyed.
3. It can be helpful to write to your GP to keep their records of your healthcare up to date. It is not always necessary however, and we can discuss this when we meet if it is of concern to you.
4. In keeping with most therapists I charge for missed appointments and cancellations within 24 hrs. I also understand that sometimes matters beyond reasonable control can get in the way and I tend to waive my fee when these occur.
5. Finally, also in keeping with most individual therapists, I cannot offer a crisis management service. If necessary, I will however help you establish contact with services
